An exceptional opportunity for a Junior Sous to join this beautiful restaurant & café nestled amongst a pioneering farm to table project in Sussex. This eco-centric restaurant is in a beautiful barn carefully designed with nature in mind and was previously shortlisted for Sustainable Restaurant of the Year by the National Restaurant Awards.
The meat all comes from the farm, and they have a beautiful and productive walled garden that supplies the majority of ingredients for the kitchen, (in the summer months all fruit and veg is coming from there!). The café serves delicious seasonal dishes showcasing the incredible produce grown on the land, while the restaurant serves more refined and innovative dishes cooked on an open fire; its wholesome, delicious & elegant cooking.
We are looking for an ambitious Junior Sous with experience in high volume restaurants to support the wonderful and progressive Head Chef in the running of this excellent kitchen. You'll be capable of running the pass on a busy shift as well as confident doing the ordering. You will mostly be cooking on fire, but you don’t need previous experience in this. You will also have the opportunity to learn about regenerative agriculture, including growing fruit & veg from the farm team on site.
This is a mega opportunity for an ambitious chef living in Sussex or for someone looking to relocate to the West Sussex countryside. The café & restaurant is open 7 days for breakfast and lunch, as well as two evening events per month. You will work a 45 hour week across 5 days from 8am – 5pm with two set days off together each week, with on average 1 evening shift per month... What a lovely balance!
