Apprentice Plumbing and Domestic Heating based at our regional office in Belmont, Durham, with set days out in the community and to attend college.

Pay: £21,216 (under 20) – £24,853 (21 and over). Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Contract: 51‑month fixed term, with the potential for a permanent role at the end.

About the role

You’ll be a valued member of the team, learning by doing and supporting colleagues with meaningful, hands‑on work. You’ll be trusted with real responsibilities while being fully supported as you develop your skills and confidence.

Learn how to:

  • Install, repair and maintain domestic plumbing and heating systems
  • Assist with safety checks and follow gas safety regulation
  • Diagnose faults and help fix issues in customers’ homes
  • Follow safe working practices and risk awareness
  • Work safely, following health and safety guidelines
  • Communicate professionally with customers and colleagues, showing care, respect and good timekeeping
  • Progress by applying learning, working safely and gaining independence toward qualified status

What qualification will you gain?

Level 3 Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician, delivered by New College Durham. You’ll combine on‑the‑job learning with structured study, building skills and confidence that will support your long‑term career.

Who we’re looking for

  • Achieved GCSEs in English and Mathematics grades 9‑4 (A*‑C)
  • IT confident, or at the very least have a basic understanding
  • Keen to learn and develop new skills, especially communication both verbal and written
  • Share our values, want to make a difference, and thrive in a team environment
  • Organised, curious and willing to ask questions
  • Previous experience is not required – we’ll support you every step of the way
