Apprentice Level 2 Support Worker
Gateshead, Lobley Hill Road, NE11 0DG
Fixed term Apprenticeship of 15 months duration, full time (37.5 hpw), While your core working hours will be Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00, we expect flexibility to accommodate customer and service needs on weekends, with availability required between 07:00 and 21:00.

Typical day as an Apprentice Level 2 Support Worker
- Support our older residents: You\’ll play a key role in helping our customersâaged 65 and overâlive comfortably, safely, and independently at Watergate Court.
- Learn on the job: Gain hands-on experience in adult care, working alongside skilled team members whoâll help you develop your knowledge and confidence.
- Work closely with your mentor: Youâll be supported by a dedicated mentor from within the team and report to one of our Deputy Managers for guidance and day-to-day support.
- Get qualified while you work: Weâve partnered with a leading apprenticeship training provider to help you complete an industry-recognised Level 2 qualification in Adult Care.
- Ongoing support and development: Youâll have access to an experienced tutor, regular learning sessions, and all the tools and resources you need to succeed.
- Make a difference every day: Whether itâs helping with daily tasks, offering companionship, or supporting activities, your work will have a direct impact on improving the lives of our residents.

About You
- You are a current or previous customer of Home Group or currently live in a Home Group property.
- Ideally you have GCSEs in English and maths, but donât worry if not, you will complete these as part of your apprenticeship learning.
- Weâre a high-tech organisation so we need you to have good IT skills.
- A genuine interest in learning and personal and professional development â this is a learning role after all!
Eligibility â Who qualifies as a Home Group Customer?
- To apply for this apprenticeship, youâll need to meet at least one of the following criteria:
- You currently live in a Home Group property (as a tenant or non-tenant)
- You are currently accessing a Home Group service (whether itâs live-in, drop-in, or community-based support)
- You have accessed a Home Group service within the last five years
- You are part of a Home Group umbrella service (for example, we own the property, but another provider delivers the support, or vice versa)
- You are a care leaver aged 16â24

Youâll be joining our lively team at Watergate Court, led by our amazing Registered Manager Zeyad Ahmed, along with our two Deputy Managers, Eileen and Monika. We are a close-knit crew who love food, chocolates, and enjoy a bit of friendly banter! If youâve got a great sense of humour and a love for trying different cuisines, you will fit right in.

Job details
- You will be doing a level 2 qualification, and this will last 15 months. Youâll gain stacks of experience to help you launch your career.
- Many of our apprentices secure a permanent role with us so who knows where youâll end up in the future!
- You will be based at the service, working Monday to Friday, 09:00â17:00. However, due to the nature of the role and service needs, you are expected to be available during weekends and between the hours of 07:00â21:00 to support with customer activities.
- You will have built in time (20% of your working week) for study and support for working towards your qualification.
- Youâll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
