Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hpw), hybrid working in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Home, a place where you belong. Join Home Group as part of our in-house Property Litigation and Housing Management Team. You will provide vital legal support on disrepair claims, acting for the business in defending legal cases.
Working with our internal Legal Team and our Housing Management and Maintenance team, you will deliver a customer focused in-house legal service.
What you’ll do:
- Advising on and defending disrepair claims, including both pre-issue and issued claims.
- Advising our maintenance teams and working with them to effectively respond to disrepair claims.
- Overseeing, where appropriate, instructions given to external firms to defend claims on our behalf.
- Drafting pleadings and documents for court issued cases in compliance with court directions and Civil Procedure Rules.
- Occasionally representing the company in court or asking another lawyer to do so.
- Helping with other housing management legal issues, like anti-social behaviour or possession cases, preparing court proceedings and paperwork for these cases.

You have:
- A qualified Legal Executive, solicitor, or barrister with extensive experience in housing law, particularly disrepair cases, capable of managing your own caseload.
- Proficiency in preparing court documents, attending court proceedings, and a firm understanding of civil procedure rules and disrepair protocol.
- Able to work effectively and collaboratively within a team.
- Capable of working independently yet effectively as part of a wider team.
- An effective communicator with robust interpersonal skills, able to interact successfully with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.
