The Role: As a Personal Care Assistant, you’ll be part of our client’s dedicated support team, providing essential care in their home. You’ll be employed by HomeCareDirect but will focus solely on supporting this client. We are looking to recruit 2 x PAs for this role, both for 24 hours a week. Shifts will be for days, and flexibility will be required across all days of the week to meet the needs of the client. Shifts can be discussed during the interview stage.
About the Client & Your Responsibilities: Our client is a lovely lady with learning disabilities and severe epilepsy. She lives at home with her parents and requires 24/7 support to effectively manage her needs and ensure her safety. The client experiences the greatest sense of happiness in her familiar home environment, surrounded by trusted PA’s. It is essential that her care is provided in a calming, low‑arousal setting to promote her well‑being. She enjoys engaging with the community through visits to local parks and shops. PA’s will play a vital role in fostering a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle by encouraging her to take part in the various activities that she enjoys such as jigsaw puzzles, building with blocks, watching television and strolling through her garden. Additionally, PA’s will assist her with personal care, mealtimes and the administration of her medications.
We are looking for a support worker who is calm, empathetic and understanding, to provide the quality of support she requires. Our training includes comprehensive, paid training (to CQC standards) before your start date, covering:
- Full induction
- Safeguarding Adults
- First Aid / Food Hygiene / Health & Safety
- Moving & Handling
- Medication Care Needs / Personal Care
- Epilepsy Awareness / Learning Disabilities / Challenging Behaviours
All training must be completed prior to start date and is paid at minimum wage.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Position is female‑only, in accordance with The Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9 Part 1
- Driver with a full UK licence and own vehicle is essential
- Previous care experience is desirable
- Good knowledge of epilepsy and learning disabilities is preferred
- A compassionate, reliable, and committed individual
- Commitment to long‑term, person‑centred care
