About Us

Home Barn is a much-loved modern rustic interiors destination, housed in a cavernous 17th-century tithe barn on the outskirts of historic Marlow, Buckinghamshire. At the heart of the Home Barn philosophy is the belief that the most beautiful interiors are those that mix eras and styles. A reclaimed wood dining table beside a contemporary sofa. Antique accessories layered with soft linen and simple foliage. Pieces chosen not to chase trends, but to create spaces that last, full of texture, charm and quiet luxury. The collection spans antique and reclaimed wood furniture, handmade English sofas and armchairs, outdoor furniture and a rich selection of decorative antiques including mirrors and ceramics, each chosen to bring authenticity, individuality and timeless elegance to the modern family home. We're an independent, family-run business, and we care as much about the people who work here as the customers who walk through our doors.

The Role

We're looking for an enthusiastic, dependable Assistant Manager to support the running of our Marlow, Buckinghamshire store. This is a brilliant role for someone with retail experience who's ready to take on more responsibility - working closely with the Store and Area Manager to make sure the team, the floor and the customer experience are all at their best.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting the Store Manager in the day-to-day running of the store, stepping up confidently when they're not around
  • Keeping a close eye on daily sales performance, understanding what's selling and why, and motivating the team to hit targets
  • Delivering genuinely great customer service - being on hand for in-depth conversations about larger, longer-term investment pieces like furniture and dining tables
  • Helping to lead and motivate the team, setting a positive example on the shop floor
  • Taking ownership of the sales floor - restocking, pricing, visual merchandising and making sure the store always looks its best
  • Supporting with rotas, opening and closing procedures, and general store operations
  • Being a knowledgeable, enthusiastic ambassador for the Home Barn brand

What We're Looking For

  • Someone with solid retail experience who's ready to step into a leadership role
  • A great communicator with a warm, people-first approach to both customers and their team
  • A good eye for detail and a genuine interest in interiors, antiques or homeware
  • Reliable, proactive and happy to take initiative when needed
  • Previous supervisory or assistant management experience would be an advantage
  • Experience working in a small, independent or family-run business would be a real bonus
