Based at our Liverpool Head Office with extensive travel across the UK. Are you hands-on, technically minded, and enjoy working both on the road and behind the scenes? We are looking for a proactive IT Hardware & Installations Technician to join our IT function in a varied and fast-paced role. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical IT work, nationwide travel, and being part of projects that directly support store openings, refurbishments and technology upgrades.

You will gain exposure to both stock operations and field engineering, playing an important role in ensuring hardware is configured, tracked and deployed efficiently. No two days are the same — one day you may be preparing devices for rollout, the next you could be supporting an installation on site as part of a wider project team.

Job Overview

  • Assisting with the receipt, storage, dispatch and accurate management of IT hardware stock
  • Configuring and preparing IT equipment including PCs, laptops, POS systems, networking devices and peripherals prior to deployment
  • Imaging, patching and testing devices to ensure readiness before rollout
  • Accurately logging configured and deployed hardware within inventory systems
  • Supporting returns processing, warranty claims and refurbishment restocking
  • Travelling nationwide to assist field engineers with hardware installations, upgrades and swap-outs at retail stores and distribution centres
  • Participating in new store openings, refits and refurbishment projects with hands-on hardware setup
  • Working collaboratively with operational and technical teams to meet project timelines
  • Maintaining flexibility in working patterns, including overnight stays when required

Experience

  • Experience in IT hardware handling, asset management or inventory control
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage high volumes of stock in a fast-paced environment
  • Good technical understanding of common IT equipment and configuration processes
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with different teams and stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • A customer-focused mindset with an understanding of service impact on end users
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider project or engineering team
  • Relevant IT, asset management or project-related certifications are desirable but not essential
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and stay away from home when required
  • A proactive, flexible and dependable approach to work
