Apprentice Caretaker

Are you practically minded, reliable, and looking to start a rewarding career in facilities management?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hands‑on Apprentice Caretaker to join our busy site team.

Working alongside our experienced Site Team, you will learn all aspects of school caretaking, health and safety, and building maintenance while completing a recognised Level 2 qualification, or similar.

What You Will Do

  • Assist in site security, including the locking and unlocking of school buildings.
  • Carry out day‑to‑day maintenance and minor repairs around the school site.
  • Set up classrooms and halls for assemblies, exams, and community events.
  • Perform routine health and safety checks and report hazards.
  • Support the wider team with deliveries, porterage, and keeping grounds clean and safe.

  • A proactive, positive attitude with a willingness to get your hands dirty.
  • Basic DIY and problem‑solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with children and adults.
  • GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent).
