We are currently seeking a Procurement Specialist for a global Procurement company in the mining industry. This is an exciting opportunity for a procurement professional to join a dynamic team and work on global sourcing initiatives within the mining sector.
About the Role:
- Negotiate, source, and procure materials, equipment, and services at competitive prices, ensuring high quality standards.
- Work on major projects and develop new client relationships, while supporting existing customers.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to secure quotes and deliver them effectively.
- Ensure all offers meet technical and commercial requirements, are compliant, clear, and comprehensive.
- Understand customer needs and confirm requirements before proceeding with orders or inquiries.
- Execute and manage supplier contracts to optimize cost, service, and quality.
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on commercial, technical, and delivery criteria.
- Collaborate with line managers to finalize bids, review supplier quotations, and ensure accuracy.
- Verify sales orders against quotes and supplier documentation to ensure compliance and profitability.
- Maintain accurate records and manage tasks in a timely manner.
- Build a supplier hitlist and maintain the supplier database.
- Stay up to date with industry developments and maintain professional procurement skills.
- Provide support to the procurement team by offering expertise and answering questions.
- Manage sales order backlogs and ensure timely handover to the supply chain team.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of procurement experience, with a background in global sourcing.
Required Skills:
- Experience in the Mining industry is desirable including knowledge of equipment, suppliers, and key industry players.
- Mechanical and electro-mechanical procurement knowledge, with experience in MRO requirements (both locally and internationally).
- Strong understanding of international trade and logistics challenges.
- Experience working with clients in Africa and the Middle East is an advantage.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 QMS processes.
- Fluency in additional languages, particularly French, is a plus.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- A positive, proactive attitude and a results-driven approach.
- Ability to work as a team player and share knowledge and expertise with others.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the Mining industry is desirable including knowledge of equipment, suppliers, and key industry players.
