Holtec International seeks qualified applicants in its Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA) discipline. The Sr. PSA Engineer will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers engaged in designing Holtec's flagship nuclear reactor SMR-300 managed by SMR, LLC, which is a subsidiary of Holtec International. Holtec International is a global turnkey supplier of equipment and systems for nuclear, solar, geothermal, and fossil power generation sectors of the energy industry.
The PSA Engineer II will develop and maintain PRA logic models and/or supporting thermal-hydraulic analyses used to quantify risk and support design and licensing activities. Responsibilities include:
- Model development for internal and external events
- Sensitivity and uncertainty evaluation
- Preparation of Level 1 and Level 2 results to support risk-informed decisions
Engineers with a thermal-hydraulic focus will develop and apply RELAP5-3D and MELCOR models to simulate plant response for transients and accidents that inform PRA quantifications. The Engineer II will coordinate with system design engineers and participate in internal reviews to assure consistency and technical quality of PSA inputs and results.
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or closely related field from an accredited college or university
- Familiarity with thermal-hydraulic behaviour of light water reactors (LWRs)
- Proficiency with one or more industry codes such as CAFTA, SAPHIRE, RiskSpectrum, RELAP5-3D, or MELCOR
- 4-6 years of experience in probabilistic risk assessment and/or thermal-hydraulic safety analysis for nuclear facilities
- Familiarity with ASME/ANS PRA Standards and NRC or IAEA risk guidance
- Ability to interpret results and communicate risk insights clearly to technical audiences
- Excellent technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810
