Holtec International and its subsidiary companies are designing an unfailingly safe and secure source of clean energy using nuclear fission, called the SMR-160 small modular reactor. The position is offered by SMR LLC as a member of the Holtec International family, a global turnkey supplier of equipment and systems for nuclear, solar, geothermal, and fossil power generation sectors of the energy industry. Come join a growing multidisciplinary team of designers and engineers designing the next generation nuclear power plant. Holtec International is seeking Nuclear Radiation Protection Engineers to perform radiation shielding, radionuclide release/transport, and dose assessment in support of nuclear plant operations, as needed for development and licensing of the SMR-160 passive, natural circulation, integral light water reactor. This position requires a highly-motivated individual with the flexibility and willingness to work on a wide array of technical and regulatory topics. The engineer will be part of a team executing a U.S. Government cost-shared development program requiring efficient completion of engineering assignments. Typical Responsibilities would include: Determine radiation source terms and transport to various systems and components at the SMR-160 plant during normal operation and transient conditions. Develop radiation protection design features and perform radiation shielding, occupational exposure, and site dose assessment for the SMR-160 plant during normal operation and transient conditions. Report preparation and licensing documentation. Participation in meetings with clients, collaborators, and with the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Applicants should meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this position: BS in Nuclear Engineering or physics (or closely related field) from an accredited college or university. 0-5 years of demonstrated experience in the nuclear industry or similarly applicable (i.e., academia or national laboratory).
