We are currently recruiting for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a leading material handling business, working across customer sites throughout the Warrington, Liverpool and Preston areas. This is a fantastic opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer who enjoys working independently, solving technical problems and dealing directly with customers.
You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of forklift trucks, including gas, diesel and electric models. The majority of trucks will be between 1.5 and 3 tonnes, although you may also work on larger trucks up to 10 tonnes.
The Role
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on forklift trucks
- Attending breakdowns and completing repairs
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective fault finding
- Completing service and repair reports accurately
- Ordering parts as required
- Managing your own diary and workload
- Working professionally and positively at customer sites
- Maintaining high standards of customer service and engineering quality
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification
- A mechanically biased engineering background
- Several years of hands-on engineering experience
- Strong IT literacy
- A full UK driving licence
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- A proactive, enthusiastic and reliable approach to work
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
Experience Considered
Forklift truck experience is highly desirable, particularly experience working on gas, diesel or electric trucks. However, engineers from other mechanical engineering backgrounds will also be considered, including:
- Plant
- Agricultural machinery
- Automotive
- Material handling
Experience with hydraulics and/or electrical systems would also be highly advantageous.
