About You

We're looking for a Multi-Skilled Mechanic / Diesel Engineer with a strong mechanical background and hands-on experience working with diesel-powered plant, machinery or equipment.

You’ll ideally be time-served or suitably qualified, with experience in the servicing, maintenance and repair of diesel engines, generators, plant, small tools, towable equipment or similar.

A broad skill set would be ideal for this role, as you’ll be working across a range of equipment and supporting the wider depot operation.

Experience with hydraulics, electrics, basic plumbing or general maintenance would also be advantageous.

This is a practical, hands-on role, so you’ll need to be comfortable working both in a workshop environment and outdoors, sometimes in varying weather conditions.

The Role As the Multi-Skilled Mechanic / Diesel Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of diesel-powered equipment and machinery.
  • Carrying out routine inspections, fault finding and preventative maintenance.
  • Working on generators, small tools, towable equipment and associated plant.
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and basic electrical faults.
  • Preparing equipment for hire and ensuring it is safe, reliable and ready for use.
  • Supporting the depot team with general maintenance and preparation of accommodation and welfare units.
  • Carrying out minor repairs to plumbing, electrical systems, fixtures and fittings where required.
  • Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment and ensuring work is completed to a high standard.
  • What We’re Looking For
  • Time-served or qualified mechanic / engineer.
  • Experience working with diesel engines, plant, machinery or similar equipment.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • A practical, hands‑on approach with the ability to work independently.
  • Multi-skilled experience across mechanical, electrical or general maintenance would be advantageous.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
