About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced HGV Workshop Supervisor to lead our day shift operations in Bedford. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with a strong technical background who enjoys mentoring others and ensuring high workshop standards.

As the HGV Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing all HGV maintenance and repair activities, working closely with a team of HGV Technicians to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to DVSA standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the day-to-day lead in the workshop, coordinating workload and priorities for HGV Technicians
  • Ensure all vehicle servicing, diagnostics, and repairs meet compliance and safety standards
  • Support the team by stepping in with hands-on technical work when required
  • Maintain up-to-date records, including job cards, inspections, and service schedules
  • Monitor workshop productivity and performance, implementing improvements where needed
  • Conduct regular toolbox talks, encourage team development, and support training initiatives
  • Liaise with fleet and transport departments to coordinate vehicle availability
  • Assist in preparing vehicles for MOT and manage audit readiness

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an HGV Workshop Supervisor or Senior HGV Technician
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (essential)
  • Excellent leadership and organisational skills
  • In-depth knowledge of HGVs, trailers, diagnostics, and repair techniques
  • Familiarity with DVSA regulations, health & safety, and fleet compliance
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV Class 1 or 2 beneficial)
