Salary: £75,000 per annum + Company Vehicle
Location: Nationwide – Based at one of the following depots: Chesterfield, Newton Abbot, Ipswich, Bury, or Somerset
Overview: We are working on behalf of a leading waste management and environmental services provider who is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead operations across a nationwide fleet of over 70 units of heavy plant and construction equipment. This is a key strategic role, with responsibility for fleet management, renewal, compliance, and maintenance across multiple depots. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring the efficient operation, reliability, and long-term viability of the fleet, while working closely with operational teams to support site performance and availability targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations and long-term strategic planning for the national plant fleet
- Lead on fleet lifecycle management, including asset renewal, disposal, and procurement
- Manage and coordinate all maintenance, servicing, and compliance across sites
- Collaborate with local depot teams to ensure machinery is available, fit-for-purpose, and aligned with site needs
- Monitor and maintain up-to-date service records, fleet condition, and performance data
- Identify opportunities for fleet improvement, upgrades, or replacements
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar plant or heavy machinery role
- Hands-on mechanical knowledge of plant and construction equipment
- Strong background in fleet operations, maintenance planning, and asset management
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Organised, analytical, and proactive mindset
- Willingness to travel to multiple depot locations as required
