Holt Recruitment are working on behalf of a valued client to recruit a Maintenance Engineer – Welfare Units based in Basildon. This role would suit someone from a general maintenance, handyman, plant, facilities, refurbishment, mechanical or building maintenance background looking for a varied hands-on role.
The Role:
- Service, maintain and repair welfare units prior to hire
- Carry out refurbishment work including cleaning, painting and minor repairs
- Inspect electrical fittings, water systems, locks and internal components
- Replace consumables such as batteries and gas bottles
- Complete fault finding and general maintenance tasks
- Attend customer sites for repairs and servicing when required
- Complete job sheets and maintenance documentation accurately
- Support workshop housekeeping and stock duties
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience within maintenance, refurbishment, plant, facilities or handyman roles
- Good mechanical and fault-finding skills
- Experience with plumbing, carpentry, painting or electrical work beneficial
- Gas Safe and/or electrical qualifications desirable
- Candidates without qualifications will still be considered, with full training and development available through the company
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude and strong attention to detail
- Full UK Driving Licence required
Training & Progression
The business offers a structured salary and development programme, allowing engineers to increase earnings as additional training and qualifications are completed. This has proven successful with previous hires progressing through the business.
Working Hours
The role will be 40 hours per week (8 hours per day). Start times will vary depending on business requirements but will normally be between 7:00am and 5:30pm, with two unpaid 30-minute breaks (mid-morning and lunch).
