If you’re a Mechanical Fitter who takes pride in precision work and enjoys seeing complex assemblies come together properly, this role offers steady, hands-on work within a structured but supportive production environment, building safety-critical equipment used across the aerospace sector. Based at a well-established aerospace manufacturing site in Yeovil, this position sits within an empowered team environment where meeting delivery targets, maintaining high workmanship standards, and working safely are part of the day-to-day. You’ll report directly to the Team Lead and play a key role in on-time delivery.
Responsibilities
- Producing assemblies to engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions
- Mechanical fitting of Environmental Control, Life Support and Hydraulic equipment
- Carrying out OCQ (Operator Control of Quality) stamping to confirm build quality
- Completing work on time and to the required aerospace standards
- Interpreting engineering drawings and following documented processes
- Working effectively within a lean manufacturing environment
Essential skills and experience
- Experience in mechanical assembly or mechanical fitting
- Strong understanding of health and safety in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read, understand, and follow technical instructions
- PC literacy and basic documentation skills
- A flexible, team-focused approach with the confidence to use initiative
Desirable experience
- Completed engineering apprenticeship (not essential)
- Aerospace manufacturing experience or safety-critical assembly work
- Familiarity with continuous improvement, 5S, or lean principles
Pay & benefits
- £18.99 - £19.54 p/h
- Ongoing training provided (including H&S, 5S, and systems training)
- Long-term, stable work in a high-standard engineering environment
This Mechanical Fitter position is subject to BPSS clearance, including right to work checks, DBS, and drug screening, as well as export control eligibility.
