An opportunity has arisen for a skilled Test Engineer to join the production team, taking ownership of complex PCB assembly testing and fault-finding within a high-reliability electronics environment. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on diagnostics, working closely with production and engineering to ensure products meet stringent aerospace/defence quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out production testing of PCBAs in accordance with work instructions and formal test procedures.
  • Fault-find assemblies down to component level where tests fail, using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Check completed work for compliance before releasing it to the next stage of the process.
  • Accurately maintain job history and test results on route cards and associated records.
  • Proactively raise any issues that may impact delivery, yield or product quality with the Test Team Leader/management.
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety, housekeeping, quality and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with Engineering and Production on technical issues, with occasional cross‑department collaboration as required.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong experience testing electronic assemblies, with the ability to fault-find to component level.
  • Sound knowledge of IPC‑A‑610 and IPC J‑STD‑001 standards.
  • Confident reading and interpreting complex drawings, schematics and detailed work instructions.
  • Aware and understanding of ESD controls in an electronics production environment.
  • Aware and understanding of AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • PC/IT literate, comfortable using PCs and tablets for test, logging and documentation.
