An innovative organisation operating at the forefront of the space sector is seeking a Senior GNC Engineer to contribute to the design, development, integration and verification of advanced Guidance, Navigation and Control systems for complex satellite missions. This is a highly technical opportunity to work on GNC, computer vision and spacecraft control technologies. You will play a key role in shaping subsystem architectures and delivering solutions from early design through to verification and on-orbit operations.
The Role
- Contributing to the development of GNC systems, including requirements, FDIR and V&V strategies.
- Integrating GNC algorithms, computer vision and GNC hardware with the wider spacecraft platform.
- Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure GNC performance and system compatibility.
- Planning and executing GNC subsystem verification and testing.
- Leading GNC subsystem review gates and contributing to wider mission reviews.
- Conducting research into emerging GNC technologies, algorithms and hardware.
- Performing subsystem-level design, analysis and technical trade-offs.
- Supporting GNC algorithm development, hardware selection and integration for RPO missions.
- Contributing to GNC software architecture and operational flight software solutions.
- Working with customers and suppliers to define requirements and develop technical solutions.
- Supporting technical and programme leadership.
About You
You should have:
- A Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a relevant engineering/science discipline.
- 5+ years' experience in a GNC-related engineering role.
- Intermediate-level MATLAB/Simulink experience.
- Strong understanding of GNC subsystem architecture.
- Hands-on experience with most of the following:
- GNC requirements derivation and verification
- Control law and navigation algorithm development
- Translating algorithms into operational flight software
- GNC hardware integration and testing
- GNC technology and hardware selection
- Space mission data processing
- Spacecraft capture systems
Desirable Experience
- Flight dynamics and relative orbital dynamics.
- On-orbit satellite operations.
- C/C++ development.
- Embedded software development.
