Are you a highly skilled Stress Engineer with a strong foundation in mechanical analysis, simulation, and problem-solving?
We’re supporting a major engineering project in the Aerospace & Defence sector , based in Huddersfield , and looking for a Stress Engineer to join the team on a permanent or contract basis . The role involves working with high-integrity mechanical systems such as gearboxes, power transmission components, and structural subassemblies.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed stress and structural analysis using FEA tools (ideally ANSYS )
  • Support design teams with hand calculations and static load analysis
  • Investigate structural failures and conduct root cause analysis
  • Attend design reviews and present technical documentation
  • Work collaboratively across the product lifecycle – design, development, and customer support
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and technical specifications

What You’ll Need:

  • Proficiency in FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN, HyperMesh)
  • Ability to perform hand calculations for stress and structural integrity
  • Experience with mechanical systems (ideally gears/gearboxes)
  • A degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Background in Aerospace, Defence, or Heavy Engineering
  • UK Citizenship (due to project security clearance requirements)
