We are seeking a Quality Inspector / CMM Programmer to join a precision engineering environment in Tamworth. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-focused quality professional with strong inspection experience, CMM programming knowledge, and a background in precision manufacturing to take the next step in their career.
The successful candidate will play a key role within the Inspection department, carrying out first-off, in-process, and final inspection of manufactured precision components to ensure all parts meet customer and internal requirements. You will be working closely with manufacturing and quality teams to maintain high standards, support continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with relevant aerospace and quality standards.
The role
You will be responsible for inspecting precision components, programming and operating CMM equipment, and supporting quality activities across the business. You’ll work with a range of measuring equipment and contribute to the smooth flow of parts through the inspection process, while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting first article and route card requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out first-off, in-process, and final inspection of precision manufactured components.
- Interpret engineering drawings and inspect parts against technical requirements.
- Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines using QCT and Mitutoyo software.
- Support programming, evaluation, and operation of gear measuring equipment.
- Use general measuring equipment including micrometers, surface testers, and contour tracers.
- Maintain route card completion and quality documentation.
- Support First Article Reporting processes across aerospace and automotive work.
- Work closely with manufacturing personnel and wider quality teams.
- Use Microsoft Office applications and the company ERP/MRP system.
- Follow local work instructions, quality control documents, and health and safety procedures.
What we’re looking for
- A strong quality background within a precision engineering environment.
- CMM programming experience is essential.
- Knowledge of QCT and Mitutoyo software is highly desirable.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings accurately.
- Good understanding of measurement and inspection techniques.
- Experience working to AS9100 Rev D, ISO9001:2015, and ISO17025:2017 standards.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
