Senior Manufacturing Engineer Overview: ✅ Lead manufacturing engineering activity across complex assembly and test environments ✅ Support the shop floor with technical problem-solving, routings, BOMs and engineering changes ✅ Drive APQP, PFMEA, RCCA and zero-defect improvement activity ✅ Improve tooling, build methods, repeatability, quality and manufacturing efficiency ✅ Work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality and external suppliers This Senior Manufacturing Engineer role is with a global aerospace engineering business in Wimborne, supporting complex assembly, test and aftermarket activity. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will provide day-to-day technical support to production while improving manufacturing methods, resolving engineering issues and ensuring processes remain efficient, repeatable and compliant. This is a hands-on Senior Manufacturing Engineer role requiring a strong shop-floor presence and the ability to move between immediate production issues, process improvement and longer-term manufacturing engineering activity. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer role As Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll take ownership of manufacturing engineering tasks across assigned products and projects. You’ll interpret drawings and test information, create manufacturing instructions, maintain routings and BOMs, implement engineering changes and work directly with production teams to resolve technical problems. You’ll also play a key role in APQP and continuous improvement activity, including PFMEA, RCCA, tooling improvements and process optimisation. Day-to-day responsibilities of a Senior Manufacturing Engineer Provide technical support to production and resolve day-to-day manufacturing issues Create and improve manufacturing instructions from drawings, test schedules and engineering data Maintain production routings and Bills of Material within ERP systems Review engineering changes and define appropriate manufacturing implementation points Support design-related manufacturing issues with the wider Engineering team Identify tooling requirements and introduce practical solutions into build processes Work with Supply Chain and suppliers to resolve manufacturing and technical queries Drive improvements in cost, repeatability, quality and production efficiency Lead or support PFMEA, RCCA and wider APQP activity Contribute to daily production meetings, material reviews and engineering change reviews Support zero-defect initiatives and continuous improvement programmes Promote safe, compliant and disciplined manufacturing practicesWhat they’re looking for - Senior Manufacturing Engineer Strong experience in Manufacturing Engineering within aerospace, defence or another regulated environment Around 5+ years’ experience in a Manufacturing Engineer or similar role HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification Good understanding of assembly, test and wider manufacturing processes Experience with ERP/MRP and document management systems Confident creating routings, BOMs, work instructions and controlled manufacturing data Strong shop-floor problem-solving capability Experience managing engineering changes within production Able to work effectively across Engineering, Quality, Production and Supply Chain teams Practical, analytical and comfortable taking ownership of technical issuesDesirable - Senior Manufacturing Engineer Aerospace experience with knowledge of EASA/CAA Part 21 or Part 145 APQP or PPAP experience PFMEA and RCCA experience Lean, Six Sigma or Green Belt qualification IOSH, NEBOSH or similar Health & Safety qualification Tooling, fixture or test equipment experience Previous involvement in zero-defect or structured quality improvement programmes  What’s on offer - Senior Manufacturing Engineer Senior Manufacturing Engineer salary: £55,400 – £61,500 A senior manufacturing engineering role with real influence over production performance, quality and process improvement.
