Are you an experienced Production Lead, Production Supervisor or Manufacturing Team Leader with a background in electronics manufacturing? We're looking for a hands-on Production Lead to oversee a busy manufacturing operation, managing the complete production process from SMT through to final dispatch. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and growing electronics manufacturer where you'll play a key role in driving performance, developing teams and ensuring products are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
The Role
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you'll be responsible for leading production operations across multiple manufacturing processes, ensuring production targets, quality standards and customer requirements are consistently achieved. You'll work closely with Engineering, Stores, Quality, Sales and Procurement, identifying bottlenecks, driving continuous improvement and ensuring production runs as efficiently as possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a large manufacturing team to achieve production and quality targets.
- Oversee the complete manufacturing process from SMT through to final dispatch.
- Monitor production performance, identifying and resolving delays or bottlenecks.
- Communicate daily production plans and priorities across the manufacturing team.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Stores and Procurement to ensure smooth production flow.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with IPC quality standards and Health & Safety procedures.
- Monitor work-in-progress (WIP), production documentation and manufacturing KPIs.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management of production staff.
- Deputise for the Manufacturing Manager when required.
About You
You'll have significant experience leading production teams within an electronics manufacturing environment and be comfortable managing both people and production performance. You'll also have:
- Strong knowledge of SMT manufacturing through to final assembly and dispatch.
- Experience leading and developing manufacturing teams.
- A solid understanding of electronics manufacturing processes and quality standards (IPC 610 desirable).
- Experience using production planning systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to prioritise workload and make decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
