Holt Engineering is recruiting for a Production Line Operator to join a well-established and growing automotive operation in Poole. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a genuine passion for cars and who is mechanically minded. Rather than traditional servicing and repairs, you'll use your mechanical knowledge to safely dismantle vehicles and remove valuable automotive components for reuse and recycling. You'll be working hands-on with a wide variety of vehicles, using hand and power tools to remove everything from doors and interior components through to suspension and powertrain parts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely dismantle end-of-life vehicles
  • Identify and remove quality automotive parts for reuse
  • Remove mechanical and electrical vehicle components
  • Dismantle and remove doors, windows and glazing
  • Remove interior and exterior vehicle components
  • Remove suspension and powertrain components
  • Remove dashboards and associated parts
  • Use a range of hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Extract and separate recyclable materials
  • Sort waste materials into the correct recycling streams
  • Follow quality, safety and environmental procedures
  • Work efficiently to achieve daily production targets
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area
  • Work closely with colleagues to keep the production line running effectively

What We're Looking For

  • Previous hands-on mechanical or vehicle experience
  • Good knowledge of vehicle components and how they fit together
  • Confidence using hand and power tools
  • The ability to dismantle mechanical components safely
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to health and safety
  • A reliable and professional approach to work
  • Good attendance and timekeeping
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team

Previous vehicle dismantling experience would be beneficial, but isn’t essential if you have the right mechanical knowledge and practical skills. There are also opportunities to progress into Senior positions, based on consistent performance, reliability, attendance, work standards and a strong commitment to health and safety.

Benefits:

  • Alongside a salary of £33,000 which will increase with progression
  • 20 days' holiday plus 8 bank holidays
  • Time off in lieu if required to work a bank holiday
  • Additional Family Day after 1 year's service
  • One paid volunteering day each year after 1 year's service
  • A further 2 days' holiday after 3 years
  • Workplace pension with enhanced employer contributions after 5 years
  • 20% discount on car parts for you and your family
  • Subsidised fuel available weekly for you or your partner
  • Structured induction and role-specific training
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Opportunities for progression and promotion from within

Additional Benefits After Probation following successful completion of the 6-month probation period.
