We are looking for a talented and driven Electronics Engineer to join a busy electronics team of 12. You will help design, develop and deliver electronic and electrical solutions that support a growing, technology-led business, while contributing to R&D, process improvement and the ongoing development of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electronic circuits, components and PCBs across areas such as EMC, power management, servo control, processor interfacing and communications.
- Design electrical power and signal systems, including overall architecture, power flow and system wiring, with a good understanding of production processes.
- Set and promote standards of good engineering practice, acting as a subject-matter expert within the business.
- Identify and implement improvements to departmental processes and practices, with a strong focus on innovation.
- Communicate effectively with senior engineers, technical leads and, where required, senior managers and customers.
- Take an active role in developing and enhancing technology within the business by building subject-matter expertise and applying it to R&D activities and projects.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong degree (or HND with proven experience) in a related discipline, ideally IET-accredited.
- Experience working within project teams on multi-disciplinary projects with challenging objectives.
- Solid theoretical and practical understanding of electrical and electronic design.
- Ability to complete analysis-based activities such as defining power budgets and specifications, and to present findings in clear technical reports.
- Experience producing electrical/electronic designs, with familiarity in technical drawings and collaborating with production to achieve the intended design output.
- Willingness to develop projects through the full lifecycle, from initial concept definition to customer delivery.
- A demonstrable passion for innovative problem-solving and challenging the status quo.
Desirable
- Member of the IET, with an interest in working towards IEng or CEng.
- Experience using laboratory tools such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, PSUs and load banks, with an understanding of their capabilities and limitations.
- Familiarity with embedded software design (e.g. C, C++, C#).
- Experience of EMC, including emissions and immunity to disturbances such as EMI or lightning.
- Knowledge of motors and drive technology, with the ability to analyse and calculate motion performance.
- Awareness of control systems analysis, topology and simulation techniques, and tools such as Python, MATLAB, Simulink, LTspice or similar.
- Familiarity with management tools such as JIRA, Confluence and MS Project.
