I am recruiting on behalf of my client, a leading engineering and construction business that delivers innovative technical solutions across a range of complex international projects.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their engineering team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality electrical design solutions across a diverse project portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Electrical Design Engineer to work on technically challenging projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and playing a key role in the development, integration and delivery of electrical systems from concept through to implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Producing conceptual and detailed electrical designs, installation drawings and design specifications.
  • Generating operational documentation and validation evidence to support project delivery.
  • Collaborating with other engineering disciplines to ensure successful integration of electrical systems.
  • Ensuring all designs comply with safety, technical, quality and commercial requirements.
  • Managing and coordinating third-party design providers where required.
  • Supporting installation and commissioning teams with technical expertise.
  • Leading and participating in internal and external design review meetings.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, efficiency gains and cost reduction.
  • Assisting with technical tenders, quotations and project budgeting activities.
  • Producing and maintaining accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Managing RFQs for specialist electrical equipment and components.

Requirements

  • Degree, HNC or HND qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of three years' post-qualification experience within an electrical design environment.
  • Strong Auto CAD experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of electrical design analysis and simulation software such as Trimble MEP, DIALux or Relux.
  • Working knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Experience with lightning protection systems and earthing systems.
  • Knowledge of EMC and TEMPEST installations.
  • Understanding of relevant BS and ISO standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to project deadlines.
  • Experience within modular or containerised build environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
