Holt Engineering is representing a well-established construction and infrastructure organisation seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial and contractual management of major construction projects from inception through to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project costs, procurement activities, contract administration and financial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in line with contractual and regulatory requirements. The role requires strong commercial awareness, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments within a fast-paced project environment.

Essential

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or equivalent
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale construction projects with a main contractor
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and commercial regulations
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Civil or structural engineering experience
  • Project management (construction) experience
  • Valid Health & Safety Qualification i.e. UKPIA, CSCS etc.

Key responsibilities

  • Preparing cost estimates, budgets and detailed cost plans
  • Managing contracts with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Conducting feasibility studies and cost analysis
  • Monitoring project costs, forecasts and cash flow
  • Preparing tender documentation, bills of quantities and commercial reports
  • Negotiating contract terms and resolving commercial disputes
  • Implementing cost-saving initiatives and identifying project risks
  • Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff
  • Liaising with project managers, engineers, architects and wider stakeholders
  • Conducting site visits to monitor project progress and compliance
