Fabricator Assembler in Ferndown, Dorset
Salary: £14.00 – £16.00 per hour

Overview:
- Split role covering sheet metal fabrication and mechanical assembly
- Produce components, then build complete units from drawings and instructions
- Use hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery to high standards
- Carry out drilling, riveting, fitting and general fabrication work
This role is with a Dorset-based manufacturer producing bespoke and standard equipment for commercial and industrial applications. The Fabricator Assembler will be involved in both component manufacture and final assembly, giving visibility from sheet metal parts through to completed products. This is a practical, varied position for someone who enjoys fabrication, mechanical assembly and working from engineering drawings in a hands-on production environment.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Cut, drill and prepare sheet metal components for manufacture
- Fold, form and modify sheet metal parts where required
- Assemble completed products using engineering drawings and build instructions
- Carry out fitting, drilling, riveting and general mechanical assembly work
- Use hand and power tools to complete assemblies accurately
- Carry out basic quality checks against drawings and job requirements
- Work closely with colleagues across fabrication and assembly
- Maintain a safe, tidy and organised work area
What they’re looking for:
- Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication, mechanical assembly or a similar manufacturing role
- Able to read and work from engineering drawings
- Confident using hand tools, power tools and general workshop equipment
- Practical, hands-on approach with good attention to detail
- Able to work independently while contributing well within a production team
Desirable:
- Experience operating guillotines, press brakes, punches or similar sheet metal machinery
- Background in HVAC, ventilation, electrical enclosures, commercial equipment or fabricated assemblies
- Experience assembling electro-mechanical products or larger fabricated units
- Forklift or overhead crane experience
