An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Miller Programmer to join a growing precision engineering manufacturer at an exciting stage of expansion. This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll be manufacturing high-precision components using a combination of CNC and conventional machining techniques. The Role
As a CNC Miller Programmer, you'll be responsible for producing high-quality precision components while ensuring safety, quality and efficiency remain at the forefront of everything you do.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting, operating and programming CNC milling machines.
- Programming using both CAM software and on-machine programming techniques.
- Operating manual lathes and milling machines for both development and production work.
- Selecting, setting and replacing cutting tools to achieve optimum machining performance.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, works orders and technical specifications.
- Producing components from rough machining through to finished precision parts.
- Carrying out first-off and in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.
- Completing quality documentation accurately and maintaining production records.
- Performing routine machine maintenance and reporting equipment issues when required.
- Working to production schedules while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Maintaining a clean, organised workspace in line with 6S and ISO quality standards.
- Supporting continuous improvement and collaborating with colleagues across the business.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced machinist who takes pride in producing high-quality work and enjoys working within a precision engineering environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- Engineering Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Proven experience setting, operating and programming CNC machinery.
- Experience with both CNC and conventional/manual machining.
- Strong knowledge of CNC milling, turning and grinding processes.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Excellent understanding of precision measurement using verniers, micrometers and other inspection equipment.
- Knowledge of tooling selection, machine setup and tool maintenance.
- Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances.
Desirable Experience
- Experience programming Heidenhain controls.
- Knowledge of Fanuc controls.
- Experience using CAM software.
- Toolmaking experience.
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.
