The opportunity

Looking for an experienced Coded Welder with strong aluminium TIG skills to join the fabrication team. This is a hands‐on role working on high‐quality, small‐batch and prototype work, producing parts that go into critical defence and industrial systems.

You will be responsible for welding aluminium fabrications to exacting standards, following approved weld procedures and maintaining the quality and traceability expected in a regulated engineering environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform high‐quality TIG welding on aluminium components and fabrications in accordance with approved weld procedures and drawings.
  • Work to BS EN ISO standards for both fillet and butt welds on 3.0 mm and 6.0 mm 5251 aluminium using 5000 series filler material.
  • Set up, operate and maintain TIG welding equipment, ensuring correct parameters and consumables are used.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols and work instructions accurately.
  • Carry out self‐inspection and contribute to formal inspection activities to ensure weld quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Maintain weld documentation, traceability and records to support compliance and quality audits.
  • Work collaboratively with fabricators, inspectors and engineers to resolve issues and continuously improve quality and productivity.

Essential qualifications and experience

Candidates must have had or currently hold current weld procedures and welder qualifications as follows:

  • Weld procedures (BS EN ISO 15614‐2:2005)
  • Fillet weld in 3.0 mm 5251 aluminium using a 5000 series filler material – TIG.
  • Fillet weld in 6.0 mm 5251 aluminium using a 5000 series filler material – TIG.
  • Butt weld in 3.0 mm 5251 aluminium using a 5000 series filler material – TIG.
  • Welder qualifications (BS EN ISO 9606‐2:2004)
  • Butt weld qualification covering down to 3.0 mm thickness.
  • Fillet weld qualification covering down to 3.0 mm thickness.
  • Fillet weld qualification covering up to 6.0 mm thickness.
