The Role
We are looking for a hands-on Quality Engineer to join a growing aerospace manufacturing environment, supporting the delivery of “on-time, first-time” quality performance. This role will play a key part in driving quality assurance, compliance, and continuous improvement, while also supporting wider health, safety, and environmental (HSE) activities. You’ll work closely with the QHSE Manager and cross-functional teams to embed a strong quality culture across the business, ensuring systems, processes, and products meet both internal and external standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards, maintaining accurate documentation and audit readiness.
- Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 compliance across the business.
- Maintain and improve the Business Management System (BMS), including internal audit programmes.
- Lead and support root cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa) and drive corrective actions.
- Manage and track non-conformances (NCRs), identifying trends and implementing preventative actions.
- Support customer and supplier quality activities, including audits and investigations.
- Assist with First Article Inspections (FAI) to AS9102 standards.
- Oversee calibration systems and ensure equipment compliance.
- Conduct shop floor (Gemba) walks to identify improvement opportunities.
- Deliver training on quality systems and procedures to improve engagement and compliance.
- Support risk assessments, COSHH, and HSE initiatives.
- Collaborate across teams to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
About You
You will be a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Engineer with experience in a precision manufacturing or aerospace environment, comfortable working both strategically and hands-on on the shop floor.
Essential Experience
- Experience in aerospace quality engineering (AS9100 environment).
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and auditing processes.
- Experience with RCA tools (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa).
- Knowledge of FAI (AS9102).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience with metrology and inspection techniques.
- Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement.
Desirable
- Engineering qualification (Level 4 or above).
- Experience with ISO 14001 / ISO 45001.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC.
- Professional memberships (CQI, IOSH etc.).
