I’m looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join a highly regarded engineering business working on complex electro-mechanical systems for the defence sector. This is a hands-on role that combines technical quality assurance, auditing, and continuous improvement — ideal for someone who enjoys variety and has a real eye for detail.
Responsibilities include:
- Verifying configuration status of hardware and reviewing supporting documentation
- Preparing and maintaining project quality documentation throughout the full lifecycle
- Supporting and running First Article and Factory Acceptance Testing activities
- Conducting internal and external audits for process, procedure, and contract compliance
- Managing the internal audit schedule and tracking corrective actions
- Leading and supporting investigations, root cause analysis, and lessons learned reviews
- Supporting continuous improvement and supplier quality activities
What we’re looking for:
- Background in defence or other high-integrity engineering environments
- Strong understanding of electro-mechanical hardware and configuration control
- Experience carrying out quality audits (in-house and at suppliers)
- Internal Auditor qualification and 8D problem-solving experience
- Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Able to work independently and under pressure
- Quality-related qualifications such as C&G 743, IQA A3, Lead Assessor, or equivalent would be an advantage
