This role is with a precision CNC machining business in Weymouth supplying high‑quality machined components into specification‑driven industries, operating to AS9100 aerospace standards. The Production Manager will take full ownership of production planning and delivery performance, while leading the shopfloor to run efficiently, safely and consistently. The Production Manager will work closely with engineering, quality and commercial teams to keep priorities clear, reduce disruption, and improve throughput, yield and on‑time delivery.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities

  • Own the production plan, sequencing and capacity planning across CNC milling and CNC turning operations
  • Drive schedule adherence and daily execution, adjusting priorities to protect customer delivery
  • Lead daily production governance: plan vs actual, bottlenecks, actions, and escalation
  • Manage labour and resource utilisation across shifts, including overtime planning where needed
  • Ensure production readiness: work orders, tooling, programmes, fixtures, materials, and inspection requirements
  • Coordinate subcontract and finishing stages to protect end‑to‑end flow (treatments, coatings, external processes)
  • Drive right‑first‑time output through process discipline, first‑off checks, and robust quality controls (including FAI packs where required)
  • Lead root cause and corrective actions for downtime, scrap, rework and repeat issues
  • Implement and improve standard work, KPI tracking and continuous improvement activity
  • Manage people performance: targets, 1‑to‑1s, training, cross‑skilling and day‑to‑day accountability
  • Maintain Health & Safety standards and safe working practices across the shopfloor
