As a Technical Author, you will create and maintain technical documentation that helps customers operate and maintain advanced simulator equipment. You will work across both electronic and hardcopy documentation, collaborating closely with engineering, design, training, and customer teams to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with internal standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Analyse aircraft and equipment manufacturer data to support documentation creation.
- Create and update technical documentation using Arbortext, HTML, and XML‑based tools.
- Produce and maintain interactive electronic technical manuals (IETMs).
- Develop and edit illustrations and supporting visuals using appropriate software.
- Work closely with engineering, training, and support teams.
- Interface with customers and support documentation‑related queries.
- Maintain project plans, schedules, and report progress.
- Ensure documentation aligns with internal processes, standards, and revision control.
Skills and experience required:
- Degree in Engineering, Science, or a similar discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Previous experience in technical authoring or technical publications.
- Strong understanding of HTML and XML‑based authoring tools such as Arbortext.
- Experience with technical documentation, manuals, or IETMs.
- Knowledge of image editing tools such as Visio, GIMP, or Adobe Suite.
- Understanding of engineering or aerospace environments.
- Awareness of Integrated Logistic Support or through‑life support principles.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
