An established precision engineering manufacturer is looking to recruit an experienced CNC Miller Setter to join its machine shop team in Portsmouth. This is a permanent opportunity for a skilled machinist who enjoys producing high-quality precision components and working in a busy manufacturing environment. The business is looking for someone with a strong CNC milling background who can confidently set and operate machines while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and efficiency. Additional experience with other machining processes, including CNC lathes or EDM, would be highly advantageous and could provide further variety within the role.

The Role

  • Setting and operating CNC milling machines using Bridgeport and Heidenhain controls.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Producing components to tight tolerances.
  • Using precision measuring equipment to carry out quality inspections.
  • Completing production and quality documentation.
  • Working safely and maintaining high workshop standards.
  • Supporting efficient production through good communication and teamwork.

What They're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a CNC Miller Setter or CNC Miller.
  • Strong CNC milling experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using Heidenhain controls is essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Competent using precision measuring instruments.
  • Good communication skills and a positive approach to teamwork.
  • Experience with CNC lathes, EDM or other machining processes would be an advantage.
