This Materials Planner role reports to the Operations Manager and is responsible for executing the day-to-day supply chain plan to ensure material availability for production and service operations. The Materials Planner will own MRP outputs, manage supplier schedules, expedite critical orders, and maintain accurate ERP data to protect delivery. This is a high-tempo, detail-critical position focused on availability, schedule support and system reliability.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Run and manage MRP to generate purchase requirements
  • Convert demand signals into accurate purchase orders and maintain planning parameters
  • Actively manage supplier order books to hit required delivery dates
  • Expedite late or critical orders and communicate risks early with recovery plans
  • Maintain optimal stock levels across production parts, spares and consumables
  • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, system anomalies and date issues
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, track status and support call-off orders
  • Work closely with Warehouse, Production and Service teams to prioritise demand
  • Escalate constraints to the Operations Manager where required
  • Liaise with suppliers on schedules, shortages, returns and onboarding activity
  • Maintain ERP/MRP data integrity including lead times, MOQs, pricing and planning dates
  • Produce reports on shortages, overdue orders and supplier performance

  • Experience in a planning, purchasing or supply chain coordination role within manufacturing or engineering
  • Confident running an ERP/MRP system day-to-day and keeping outputs clean and usable
  • Proven track record in expediting suppliers and protecting build schedules under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail with a structured approach to workload and follow-ups
  • Comfortable working at pace, juggling priorities and escalating early when needed
  • SAP Business One exposure is useful, but not essential
  • Have, or working toward, CIPS Level 3+
