We are seeking a proactive and technically minded NPI Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Fareham. This role will suit someone with experience in electro-mechanical assembly, prototype builds, product testing, and supporting new product introduction from concept through to production.
The role
- You will work closely with design, production, quality and supply chain teams to support prototype and NPI activities, identify manufacturability issues, and help improve build processes and documentation.
- The position requires a hands-on approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to translate engineering information into clear production-ready documentation.
Key responsibilities
- Support prototype, NPI, and low-volume production builds.
- Build, test, and debug products to meet customer and quality requirements.
- Interpret schematics and engineering drawings and convert them into production documentation.
- Identify design for manufacture issues and provide practical feedback to improve buildability.
- Create and improve work instructions, build procedures, and test documentation.
- Carry out root cause analysis, issue tracking, and corrective actions.
- Work with manufacturing tools, fixtures, and test equipment.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support smooth product transition into production.
What we are looking for
- Experience in electro-mechanical assembly and product build environments.
- Practical knowledge of prototype builds, NPI builds, or low-volume manufacturing.
- Strong problem-solving ability and a hands-on approach.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Familiarity with MS Office and exposure to 3D modelling software.
- Experience with ERP systems, ideally E10 or Vantage.
- IPC 610 / 620 qualification is desirable.
- Experience with computer rack cabinets or computer assembly is desirable.
- Candidates need to hold the right to work in the UK without Visa sponsorship.
