We are seeking a talented and driven Mechanical Design Engineer to join a hardware engineering team developing advanced mechanical and electrical systems for cutting‑edge flight simulators. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high‑performance aerospace products that help shape the future of aviation training and safety. The role will suit a hands‑on engineer with strong mechanical design experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work across multi‑disciplinary teams in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or support the design and development of mechanical hardware solutions for flight simulators, ensuring they meet customer and industry requirements.
  • Create detailed technical specifications, models, and drawings for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Work closely with systems, software, and project teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Carry out testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance.
  • Support the evaluation of new technologies and materials to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Engage with suppliers to source and integrate mechanical and electrical components.
  • Support or lead project delivery to time, budget, and quality expectations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree‑level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical hardware design and development.
  • Ability to perform hand calculations and use analytical design tools, including FEA, to verify structural adequacy.
  • Experience producing technical drawings, calculation packs, and supporting design reviews.
  • CAD experience with tools such as Creo/Pro‑E or CATIA V5 would be a distinct advantage.
  • Familiarity with PLM tools such as Windchill or Teamcentre would also be beneficial.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and experience in testing, validation, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Confident working within multi‑disciplinary teams and communicating effectively at all levels.
  • Flight simulation, avionics, or aerospace experience is highly desirable, although we will also consider transferable experience from automotive, wind energy, or other similar industries.
