Overview:
- Support sales with manufacturing feasibility reviews for new and existing customer designs
- Own accurate routings, process times and job card information through ERP
- Work across NPI, manufacturability reviews, material usage and special instructions
- Liaise with customer engineering teams on DFM, concessions and production release
- Support document control, configuration and ISO9001 compliance across process data
This role reports into the Sales and Commercial Manager and acts as the technical link between sales, engineering, customers and operations. The Production Engineer will review customer designs for manufacturability, support quoting and feasibility activity, maintain accurate production data, and ensure routings, process times and special instructions are clear before work reaches the shop floor.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Provide manufacturing feasibility reviews for prototype and production enquiries
- Work with customer engineering teams to improve designs from a DFM perspective
- Compile material usage information and update NPI documentation for relevant departments
- Maintain accurate routings, process times and special instructions within the ERP system
- Support internal process change notes and controlled documentation updates
- Identify tooling, test fitting or additional manufacturing requirements before production release
- Work with Operations to confirm production readiness and resolve missing information
- Maintain document control and configuration discipline in line with ISO9001 requirements
- Carry out general system maintenance audits to keep data accurate and usable
- Support concessions/deviation activity by providing technical data to customer engineering teams
- Read and interpret customer, engineering and international standards where required

- Experience in a manufacturing, production engineering or technical engineering support role
- Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Able to understand how product design, routing, tooling and process data affect manufacture
- ERP experience would be useful, especially around routings, job cards or production data
- Strong communication skills with internal teams and customer engineering contacts
- Organised and able to prioritise work based on business impact
- Good IT skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook and general system use
- HNC/HND or higher in an engineering discipline is desirable, but relevant experience will also be considered
Desirable:
- 3D CAD exposure, with Inventor experience useful
- Experience supporting NPI or manufacturability reviews
- Understanding of document control, configuration control or ISO9001 environments
- Background in fabricated, formed, tubular, machined or assembled metal products
- Experience working between sales/commercial and production teams
