I am recruiting on behalf of my client for an experienced Diagnostic ATE Test Engineer to join a highly successful engineering and manufacturing business based in Wimborne. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Diagnostic ATE Test Engineer to work on a range of analogue and digital electronic products, carrying out testing, fault finding and product verification to meet both customer and business requirements. The successful Diagnostic ATE Test Engineer will play a key role in ensuring product quality, reliability and compliance within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
As a Diagnostic ATE Test Engineer, you will be responsible for testing electronic and electro‑mechanical equipment using both bench test equipment and Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining high manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities- Testing analogue and digital electronic products using both bench test equipment and ATE systems
- Testing electronic and electro‑mechanical equipment including low voltage, 110V, 230V, 440V and E.H.T. products
- Verifying products and documentation against drawings, wiring schedules and test procedures
- Fault finding electronic and electro‑mechanical equipment down to component level
- Rectifying faults where appropriate and recording fault information accurately
- Identifying faults with test equipment and initiating repair actions when required
- Completing all documentation and ERP records accurately to maintain full traceability
- Supporting continuous improvement activities, lean manufacturing initiatives and 6S standards
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and compliance with safety regulations and procedures
- Demonstrable experience carrying out production testing using commercial off‑the‑shelf and bespoke analogue test equipment
- Experience using Teradyne Automatic Test Equipment, with Teradyne SP9000 experience being advantageous
- The ability to read and interpret manufacturing documentation including drawings, bills of materials and test specifications
- Proven fault‑finding capability to component level
- The ability to read circuit diagrams and wiring schedules
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively
- Familiarity with ESD procedures and IPC‑A‑610/620 standards
- Sole British National status due to security contractual requirements
- The ability to lift and move test equipment and products as required
- HNC / ONC in Electronics or equivalent technical qualification
- IPC‑A‑610/620 qualification
- Experience in electrical assembly
- Precision cable preparation experience
- Soldering experience
