The Physical Therapist Assistant will provide direct treatment services under the supervision of a physical therapist following the documented patient treatment plan. They will aid in the development/coordination of intervention plans and adapt activities according to the needs of the patient as well as appropriately document treatment services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to professional, ethical and legal standards of practice
  • Participates with physical therapist in developing patient treatment plans
  • Administers a variety of exercises and interventions following the documented patient treatment plan
  • Observes and records the effectiveness of intervention, and document patients progress
  • Proposes modification of specific intervention procedures to physical therapist
  • Coordinates treatment schedule with Physical Therapist
  • Explains treatment techniques to patients
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment/and equipment
  • Build quality relationships with patients, physicians/providers, and co-workers

Education/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Graduate of an APTA accredited school of physical therapy
  • Valid PTA license
  • 0-2 Years’ experience
  • Knowledge of physical therapy principles, theory, methods and their application in a patient-centered environment
  • Must possess good diagnostic and clinical skills
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records
  • Must possess excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others

  • Ability to interact appropriately with colleagues and patients for different purposes and different context.
  • Heavy work excreting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Marginal:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 25% of the time.
  • Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Work independently and identify potentially more effective methods of work operations.
  • Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colours.
  • Occasionally operates computer and other machinery.
