About the role:

We are seeking a welcoming and dedicated Front of House Supervisor to support the smooth day-to-day running of the catering service at Downside School. Working closely with the General Manager, you'll play an important role in leading and supporting the front-of-house team, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards across all aspects of food service. This hands-on position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in delivering great hospitality, and is passionate about creating a positive dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Team in the day-to-day operation of the catering service, ensuring a consistently high standard of food service and customer care.
  • Supervise and support the front-of-house team, providing guidance, coaching, and encouragement to ensure excellent performance.
  • Lead by example, delivering a welcoming and professional dining experience for pupils, staff, and visitors.
  • Assist with stock control, ordering, and the monitoring of supplies to support operational requirements and budget expectations.
  • Support the planning and delivery of hospitality events, school functions, and special occasions.
  • Handle customer queries and feedback professionally, helping to ensure a positive customer experience at all times.
  • Assist with the induction and training of new team members, helping to foster a positive and supportive team culture.
  • Deputise for the Deputy General Manager when required, taking responsibility for the smooth running of the operation and team leadership.

Qualifications Candidate Profile:

  • Previous supervisory experience within a catering, hospitality, or food service environment would be ideal.
  • A passion for delivering excellent food service and creating positive customer experiences.
  • Good understanding of food safety, health & safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, pupils, staff, and visitors.
  • Organised and able to remain calm and focused in a busy environment.
  • A hands-on approach with a willingness to support all aspects of the operation when required.
  • Experience within an education or contract catering environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
