Kitchen Assistant – The Archive Café Ltd (Holmfirth)

We’re looking for a positive, reliable and hard-working Kitchen Assistant to join our team at The Archive Café.

No previous kitchen experience is required.

We will teach you everything you need to know. We’re looking for the right attitude, not an impressive CV.

Working hours will vary depending on business requirements and will be agreed in advance.

About the Role

As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll help prepare and serve our menu to a consistently high standard while maintaining an exceptionally clean, organised and safe kitchen.

You’ll work closely with the kitchen team, following our recipes, systems and standards exactly as trained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation
  • Prepare ingredients following Archive Café recipes and specifications.
  • Portion ingredients accurately.
  • Assist with preparation before service.
  • Ensure food is prepared safely and consistently.
  • Cook dishes during service following training and recipes.
  • Plate food to the required presentation standard.
  • Work efficiently during busy periods while remaining calm and organised.
  • Maintain excellent cleanliness throughout every shift.
  • Wash dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment promptly.
  • Keep workstations clean throughout service.
  • Complete end-of-day cleaning to the required standard.
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures at all times.
  • Food Safety & Stock
  • Complete temperature records and HACCP checks.
  • Rotate stock using the First In, First Out (FIFO) system.
  • Receive and store deliveries correctly.
  • Report damaged, missing or out-of-date stock immediately.
  • Opening & Closing
  • Prepare the kitchen before service begins.
  • Complete opening and closing checklists.
  • Leave the kitchen clean, organised and ready for the next shift.

All successful applicants will complete a one-week paid trial period .
