We are partnering with a multinational engineering business serving the industrial sector in the search for a commercially astute Managing Director to lead their UK subsidiary.

Opportunities to lead a profitable standalone business with full P&L autonomy rare in this sector, making this a compelling proposition.

As Managing Director for the UK, you will take full ownership of the business, supplying specialist engineered products and solutions to the utilities sector. The business serves a broad customer base across utility networks, infrastructure contractors and engineering service providers, supported by a highly experienced team and the backing of a well-established multinational parent company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full P&L ownership and accountability for business performance.
  • Lead and develop a lean, high-performing UK team of c.10-20.
  • Drive profitable growth through strategic business development and customer engagement.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with key infrastructure customers, contractors and industry partners.
  • Support major tendering activities and bid submissions.
  • Oversee operational activities including assembly, project delivery, logistics and distribution.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK regulatory, governance and health & safety requirements.
  • Represent the business externally and act as the lead director for the UK legal entity.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking an experienced General Manager, Managing Director or Divisional Director who has successfully led a business unit with full commercial and operational responsibility.

You will bring:

  • Proven P&L ownership and accountability.
  • Demonstrable experience from engineering or infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience within an engineering or technical products business serving utility, infrastructure or industrial markets.
  • A track record of leading both commercial and operational functions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and credibility with customers, suppliers and industry partners.
  • Experience operating within an SME or mid-sized business environment.
  • The ability to work autonomously and make decisions without reliance on extensive corporate infrastructure.
  • Experience within a decentralised or entrepreneurial business structure.
