About the Role
WH Scott is looking for an enthusiastic Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Apprentice to join our Yeovil team and develop the skills required for a rewarding career in engineering and advanced manufacturing.
As a Mechatronics Maintenance Technician, you will help ensure that plant, machinery and equipment operate safely, reliably and efficiently, supporting production targets across Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
You will work with a broad range of sophisticated automated equipment and develop practical experience in installation, testing, fault-finding and planned preventative maintenance.

You will combine practical, hands-on workplace experience with classroom-based learning, developing the skills needed to become a competent engineering professional.
Your Training
You will be supported throughout your apprenticeship by experienced engineering lecturers and workplace mentors.
Our lecturers are passionate about engineering and have industry experience themselves. They understand the demands of the engineering sector and will help you develop the skills, knowledge and professional behaviours needed to succeed.
Learning will include a mixture of:
- Practical training
- Theoretical learning
- Formative and summative assessments
Your assessment evidence will be gathered naturally from your day-to-day engineering activities, allowing you to demonstrate your competence in real workplace situations.
Entry Requirements
Individual employers set their own recruitment and selection criteria. However, candidates will typically have:
- 4 GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent
- GCSE Mathematics
- GCSE Science
- A genuine interest in engineering, manufacturing and technology
- A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
- A positive attitude and commitment to workplace learning
- Good problem-solving and practical skills
- Relevant qualifications or practical experience may also be considered.
