Role: Part-Time Neighbourhood Housing Officer
Hours: 22.5 hours per week
Location: Worthing / Hybrid
At Worthing Homes, we are ambitious about being a brilliant landlord: one that listens, acts with fairness, invests in safe and well-managed homes, and builds trust with customers and communities. We provide homes and services for more than 10,000 residents across Worthing and the surrounding area, and we want every contact with us to feel professional, respectful and focused on getting the right outcome.
We are looking for a passionate and customer-focused Neighbourhood Housing Officer to join our Neighbourhood Housing team on a 6-month Fixed Term Contract. This is a role for someone who enjoys working directly with customers, building positive relationships and making a visible difference in the communities we serve. You will play a key role in helping customers sustain their tenancies, resolve issues and access the support they need, while ensuring our neighbourhoods remain safe, welcoming and well-managed places to live.
About the role
As a Neighbourhood Housing Officer, you will be responsible for delivering a proactive and responsive housing management service across a designated neighbourhood patch. You will build strong relationships with customers, providing advice, support and challenge where appropriate to help them meet their tenancy responsibilities and thrive in their homes.
You will manage a varied caseload, covering all aspects of tenancy management including tenancy visits, estate inspections, neighbourhood issues, anti-social behaviour, safeguarding concerns, tenancy sustainment and resident engagement. Working closely with customers, colleagues and partner agencies, you will identify issues early, take ownership of cases and find practical solutions that achieve positive outcomes.
Much of your time will be spent out in the community, meeting customers in their homes and working alongside local partners to address neighbourhood concerns. You will be a visible presence in the areas you manage, helping to build trust, promote community pride and ensure customers feel heard and supported.
This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference every day. Your work will help customers maintain successful tenancies, strengthen communities and ensure Worthing Homes continues to deliver excellent services that put customers first.
About you
We are looking for someone who is approachable, resilient and committed to delivering excellent customer service. You will enjoy working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and be confident handling both supportive and challenging conversations with professionalism and empathy.
You will bring experience of housing management, customer services or a similar community-focused role, together with an understanding of the importance of balancing customer support with effective tenancy enforcement. You will be organised and proactive, able to manage a varied workload, prioritise competing demands and maintain accurate records.
Strong communication and partnership-working skills will be essential. You will be comfortable building positive relationships with customers, colleagues and external agencies, working collaboratively to resolve issues and support vulnerable individuals where needed.
You will be able to demonstrate sound judgement, effective problem-solving skills and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for customers and communities. Knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy management practices or safeguarding would be advantageous, although we welcome applications from individuals who can demonstrate the potential and aptitude to develop within the role.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are essential.
