If you’re an experienced Dental Nurse ready to step away from full-time chairside work but still keen to make a meaningful impact in the dental industry, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. At Tempdent, we support and develop the next generation of Dental Nurses through high-quality training and apprenticeships. We’re looking for passionate dental professionals to join our team as Workplace Assessors, helping learners develop the skills, confidence and knowledge they need to succeed in their careers.

Salary: up to £30,000 per annum pro rata for candidates with relevant qualifications and experience. For candidates that are not yet CAVA qualified, we will be fully supportive to achieve this qualification with a starting salary of up to £28,500 per annum pro rata. This role is ideal for a qualified dental nurse with industry experience who enjoys mentoring others and wants to move into education and assessment.

As a Workplace Assessor, you will support and assess learners completing the Diploma in Dental Nursing, visiting them in their dental practices to observe and assess their skills in real clinical environments. You’ll work closely with learners, employers and the Tempdent team to ensure apprentices progress successfully and are fully prepared for their End Point Assessment (EPA).

Key responsibilities:
  • Schedule and carry out workplace assessments for Dental Nursing learners within required timelines
  • Communicate effectively with practice managers and learners when arranging assessment visits
  • Ensure all relevant clinical treatments are booked and ready for observation
  • Provide constructive and supportive feedback to learners and employers
  • Manage your own assessment diary to maximise assessment opportunities
  • Maintain accurate and timely completion of assessment documentation
  • Support a caseload of learners and prepare them for End Point Assessment (EPA)
  • Conduct Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities checks within dental practices
  • Facilitate communication between learners, employers and Tempdent
  • Attend team meetings, handovers and standardisation sessions
  • Work towards agreed targets and KPIs
  • Maintain GDC registration and CPD requirements
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, and best practice across all training environments
What we are looking for:
  • Qualified GDC registered Dental Nurse
  • Assessor qualification (CAVA or TAQA) or willing to acquire
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule
  • Confident using office software and digital systems
  • Ability to motivate and support learners
  • Experience assessing Dental Nursing qualifications or apprenticeships would be beneficial
  • Teaching or training qualification (AiET or willing to acquire)
  • Knowledge of or experience working in work-based learning or apprenticeships
  • Confident to build strong relationships with learners and employers
  • Able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Confident to communicate clearly and professionally
  • Maintains high professional and clinical standards
