We’re looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Import Customs Administrator to join our dynamic team! If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a strong understanding of customs regulations, this could be the perfect role for you.
Key Skills and Qualifications to succeed in this role:
- Previous experience in a similar Customs or Import role is essential
- Strong knowledge of Customs regulations and processes (inc. International)
- Excellent communication, negotiating and problem-solving skills, both written and verbally
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
- High attention to detail and accuracy under pressure
- Experience with customs platforms and industry-standard software e.g. CHIEF, CNS Destin8 and a good understanding of ETSF warehouse processes
- Excellent numerical skills are essential due to the calculation of VAT and Duty on behalf of HMRC
- Handling and signing customs documents under Power of Attorney on behalf of clients
- Extracting and processing data from commercial invoices and packing lists to complete import declarations
- Using specialist Customs software (Destin8, Sequoia, Descartes) to clear goods into the UK
- Working closely with importers, exporters, and internal teams to ensure smooth processing
- Managing duties and taxes, applying for refunds, and assisting with tariff reclassification
- Staying up to date with the latest import regulations (CDS, NCTS, GVMS, IPAFFS)
- Ensuring accurate and timely completion of at least 75+ entries per week
