Location – Dash Local (Spar), Truro, TR1 3LF

Reports to – Store Manager

Pay - £12.75 per hour (£11.00 per hour if you are under 21)

Shift pattern – 12 hours a week - Sunday 11.00am to 7.00pm; Monday 7.00pm to 11.00pm. Extra shifts available to cover holidays as needed.

Purpose

We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Part‑Time Retail Sales Assistant to join our team at our Dash Local (Spar) based in Truro. In this role, you’ll be the face of our store—greeting customers, assisting with purchases, and ensuring the shop floor is welcoming, tidy, and well-stocked. Whether you're helping someone find the perfect item, processing transactions at the till, or restocking shelves, your positive attitude and customer‑first approach will make a difference.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve customers quickly and professionally at the till.
  • Provide a friendly and helpful experience for all customers.
  • Handle cash and card transactions accurately.
  • Ensure pricing and promotions are displayed correctly.
  • Adhere to all legal requirements regarding licensing, age-related sales, temperature and date controls.
  • Replenish stock on shelves, checking dates and following stock rotation processes.
  • Prepare food for hot vending.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, including shop floor and store areas.
  • Follow all food hygiene and safety procedures.
  • Work within health & safety guidelines and follow company procedures at all times.
  • Report hazards, incidents, or issues to the Retail Manager.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as requested by the management team.

  • The physical ability to manually lift and move products and be on your feet for a prolonged period of time.
  • A flexible, team-focused approach to work.
  • Good time keeping and organisational skills.
  • All of our staff must pass a basic DBS check.
