The Structural Engineer is responsible for the engineering management, technical assurance and delivery support of all structural and civil engineering elements associated with the design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the Foul Treatment Plant (FTP) and Potable Water Plant (PWP) at Sizewell C Nuclear Power Station.

The role will provide structural engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that all structural assets, buildings, foundations, retaining structures, reinforced concrete elements, pipe supports, equipment support structures and associated infrastructure are designed and constructed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications, regulatory requirements and nuclear industry standards.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties but is not limited to:

  • Reviewing and coordinating structural engineering designs and calculations.
  • Providing technical assurance for reinforced concrete, structural steelwork and associated infrastructure packages.
  • Supporting the design and delivery of foundations, buildings, equipment supports and treatment plant structures.
  • Coordinating interfaces between civil, structural and MEICA disciplines.
  • Supporting construction teams with technical advice, inspections and quality verification activities.
  • Reviewing compliance with engineering standards, specifications and project requirements.
  • Assisting with commissioning, handover and as-built verification activities.
  • Contributing to risk management, design optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/ attributes:

  • Qualifications: Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Membership: Membership of ICE or IStructE, or working towards professional accreditation.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years' structural engineering experience within construction, infrastructure, utilities, water or industrial sectors.
  • Technical Expertise: Experience designing or reviewing reinforced concrete and structural steelwork packages.
  • Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of structural analysis, engineering standards and design principles.
  • Project Experience: Experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects.
  • Driving Licence: Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Desirable: Experience within nuclear, water treatment, wastewater treatment, process plant or major infrastructure projects.
